Samurai Guns at Meiji Shrine on Culture Day



Samurai gun demonstration at Meiji Shrine on Bunka-no-Hi (Culture Day). Guns came to Japan in 1543 brought by Portuguese traders. Guns soon became a staple on Japanese battlefields. Here they fire matchlock guns known as Teppo.
